That time again

Well now, it's that time again--back to school! While you suckers gotta buy books and paper, all i'll need is my mac--since i got the books for my classes.
I'm also uber-exited about rehearsal this Saturday at Danny Screams Studio as well as my show August 28 at Connolly's. Talk about a way to ready yourself for school and the fall. I even cut my hair as a means of a new start in school. Michael Jordan used to shave his head every NBA season as a sign of a fresh start back in the late 80's and early 90's.
For those out of the loop, I have a new cell number and gone are the days with T-Mobile. Whereas I was happy with them from 2005-2008, these past two years have shown that they're not that stable with reception. I may be on Boost Mobile but at least my reception's constant and I have unlimited everything for $50/month.
In case if everyone's not in the loop, 91,000 documents (you read correctly) have been leaked, unveiling things that have been going on within the Afghan war as far back as 2004. From the looks of it, a whole lot of soldiers and politicians got hell waiting for them because war crimes are in the mix, especially with the killing of innocent civilians thrown in the mix. I hope Bush and Cheney were proud of making our troops look very much like Nazi soldiers. May God have mercy for the troops that followed whatever cruel orders they were given during '04-'10. Indeed, the faith in our troops and leaders will be shaken to the core (as though it hasn't been already).
After the Ron Gunz show, I will be readying myself for some open mics to get my poetry out there. I want my work known and I really desire to let the work know about my writing genius.
In turn, I've been learning something as of late. Often, Christians have a habit of "going to church". Yet many of them don't "be church". What I mean is, they go to meet each other--which is nice but how often do we consider being instead of going to? I also wonder what is each church's vision. Years ago, it seemed to be all about numbers. The more members you had, the more "blessed" the church group was. Really? Is that it? I thought the goal was to shed the light of Christ. I thought the goal was to show the love of Jesus and the news of Him offering himself as the ultimate sacrifice so that our shackles of sin could be broken. Instead of focusing on politics and appearance, I feel that some believers need to focus on building Christ-like character. If the world hates us, let it be because they hate the genuine Christ-like character that we develop as we mature in the Lord.
